Artist Statement
My work is an unapologetic force of honesty, using humor to start uncomfortable conversations and fine details to keep you intrigued and listening. The exploration of my lived experience and how I take in the world around me is a deep dive into the organic chaos that is the human mind. I am constantly noticing patterns, textures, and new characters wherever I look, and I find solace in concreting their existence on paper, canvas, or textiles. The use of mixed media translates the complexity and depth of my creations while expressing my layered ideas in a spontaneous way. I take what I observe around me and contort it into something new and inviting through the process of recontextualizing. The surface of my work is playful, though behind the colorful mindless looking designs lies a deeper realization of the subconscious, displaying my entire self on a surface without doubt, hesitation, or apology.
